As part of the Health and Wellbeing team, Katherine works on a range of projects focusing on issues around the value of work for an individual’s social, economic and psychological wellbeing.

Why Do Employees Come to Work When Ill? An investigation into sickness presence in the workplace and is part of the project team exploring the links between chronic physical health conditions and mental health.
A chartered psychologist, with training in economic psychology, Katherine comes from an academic background. She brings to The Work Foundation an enthusiasm for research on the boundaries between work and family life, with a particular interest in how personal debt impacts employees’ wellbeing.
Prior to joining The Work Foundation in December 2008, Katherine held a prestigious Economic and Social Research Council postdoctoral fellowship at SOAS, University of London. Katherine has acted as a sessional lecturer in Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London and she has published work on socio-economics and economic psychology in the UK and abroad. She has an MSc in Economic and Consumer Psychology and a PhD in Economic Psychology from the School of Psychology, Exeter.
